This. I've heard its healthiest to not eat anything at least 2 hours before sleeping. If you maintain this pattern Breakfast is essential in the mornings. I love bacon and bagels so I love breakfast. Can't imagine going without it. How can people live without bacon and bagels in the morning? I will never know.

You invalidate anything you have to say about skipping breakfast being unhealthy when you're advocating regularly advocating bagels as part of that meal (or any meal, for that matter).

How exactly are bagels unhealthy? They are healthier than bread (toast, french toast etc) per serving so not sure what your issue with bagels is. The only thing about health I mentioned was eating 2 hours before bed or not and its relation to being hungry in the morning. I was expecting a comment on the bacon love more than the bagel love...

Bagels are about as nutritionally useless a food as you can find. People think because bagels are low in fat that they're "healthy." That's even after they slather it with cream cheese.

Even a plain bagel is junk. Satiety from a bagel is low, so you're basically downing an insulin spike that's going to leave you feeling hungry an hour later.

Breakfast is my favorite meal. Usually consists of eggs, maybe bacon, toast, coffee.

That might have something to do with the amount of alcohol I drink each night before bed, but I don't know for sure.

I HAVE to have breakfast. I can't function otherwise... :)

What about whole grain bagels with some cottage cheese. You can easily have a meal around 300-500 cals that have some fiber, some protein, some fat and just taste damn good! Just gotta mix it up to get good nutritional values.

We've had this discussion recently. Whole grains = Big Food's latest gimmick to sell you more ****** food under the guise that it's "healthy" because of the inclusion of whole grains. Froot Loops now boast "made with whole grains."

Oh, I know about that don't worry. I'm not the kind of guy that thinks that because a certain food is low fat or whole grain, it sudently become healthy but if I've had to choose between the whole grain bagel or the regular version, I just like the taste better and some fibers (even if it's a very small amount) never hurt. Just gotta check the ingredients used!

Ever heard of Ezekiel's bread? Very very good if you like the taste. They come frozen and use wonderful ingredients. It's a good alternative for those that doesn't want to get rid of bread.
