Cost of an item doesn't mean better quality, but this is one exception where the quality of your cigars are most def better quality then his jacket.

No causation but there is a correlation, the cost being influenced by quality (materials, construction, design) and all...Sure brand positioning also matters (i.e. Balmain).

Good shite. I have the same pair from B&S a bit ago waiting for full on spring weather to start the rotation. I like this version a lot.

+1 I'd say 90% of the time the cost is relatively indicative of quality and attention to design. Give me the RRP of a shoe and I can tell you what quality level it would be in MC land

Hmm, ok.

Berluti $1400
Corthay $1150
Carol Christian Poell $2200

If that were the case nothing would go on sale, and fashion labels wouldn't go out of business.

I don't think what I ment came out right, I was joking, I'm no pro. I should use sufu sarcasm meter.

There has been alot of discussion around hand welting and machine welting and why hand welting is stronger, but I've yet to hear from anyone owning machine welted shoes to complain of durability. Discussion between Blake / Blake Rapid / Goodyear welting has been at length as well. Having owned both, blake are deffinitly lighter, more flexible, more comfortable and had a much slimmer profile. I never had problems in the rain, as people have believed. However they are more difficult to resole, and increasingly more difficult / not possible after the first.

I haven't seen much from Corthay from what I have it's really nice. Same with Berluti.
They both make some beautiful shoes. I believe alot of Berluti is Blake stitched. They do however have designs your not likely to get elsewere and have been copied in the past. Some of thier leathers and treatments have been worked on for some time. Corthay uses mostly Goodyear welting from what I can gather, machine welted. The lasts are slim and it is a fusion between english and french styles, i.e welted shoes with patination and slimmer lasts.

The competition is probably tighter between EG / JL / G&G then the others, they have more to set them apart then say Berluti and Corthay.

Re: CCP, IMO I think his footwear is amazing, design is fantastic. I'm happy to pay for design, were as I don't think many in MC are. Some of the Tornado boots, that are object dyed, I've never seen anything like it. They are deffinitly a grail for me.

For 2200 though your probably looking at low end bespoke? Handwelted obviously. Basic leathers.

Just save for a CCP fencing, I would.
