Winter Coat Dilemma

I'm trying to find a winter coat too. I have a sterlingwear that's not too bad, but it's not really anything special. It's not fun to drive in either cuz it's so constricting.

+1

Also, have you considered doing a duffle or a warmer version of your varsity?

Was going to make a topic about winter coats here soon. Teger do you like anything from NDG or W+H? They make some good outerwear.

I like a lot from both NDG and W+H, but I worry about fit and I think sometimes both brands can be over designed.

My biggest issue with all the brands that I like stylistically/fit wise (Rag & Bone, W+H, NDG) is that their pricing is out of wack. I also feel that there is too much emphasis on goofy pockets and ugly accessorizing for the sake of ugly accessorizing.

I wish there existed a decent brand that made slim, simply designed jackets that retailed around $300. I love when stuff is Made in Japan, but I like paying my tuition even more.

I'm starting to look for winter coats also. Thinking of getting a JCrew university or car coat with thinsulate during the winter sale (long time from now).

I got a great deal on a wool Spiewak duffle that has lasted me forever. The fit is spot on, it's really, really warm, and the details are awesome. Probably my favorite coat.

I'm actually looking for one more wool coat for this F/W so I'm glad you made this. I've been thinking about just buying a Sterlingwear but I'm not so sure anymore...

For a great look plus protection I recommend Belstaff - Roadmaster or Trialmaster in waxed cotton. Their leathers are around $1,500.- but can be found on sale.

For a nice leather, why not go vintage. I've seen them in resale stores and even pawnshops at very good prices.

I like these alot from w+h. Will probably get the second jacket because of its simplicity.

+1 to the chambray outwear caution. I say this because I am waiting for stores to stock W+H so I can try stuff on and such but if I am going to spend $500 on a fall/winter coat, I kind of want something a little more weather resilient.

Barbour too old man/rural for you? Wax cotton + liner makes for a great all-weather coat, for $350 from the UK.
