What's wrong with wearing sandals?

I like sandals.

We used to wear Indian water buffalo sandals in the late 60's with our beat up Levis. I wish I could find them again. They would mold to your feet when you got them wet.

I'm actually looking for a pair of nice brown leather sandals to wear at a beach wedding with a navy linen suit. There is no way I'm wearing shoes.

I wonder if they were the same kind I got in Oberlin, Ohio, in 1989. I haven't seen any like them in years.

Well, lets keep god out of this discussion.

If I am wearing suit, in a wedding, on a beach in Mexico and it friken 95 degrees and 95 per cent humidity, I'm wearing brown leather sandals.

They're for off the boat. Boat shoes hurt my very flat feet anyway.

We can get the same kind of weather here in NYC. Sometimes clothing needs to be functional as much as stylish. I CANNOT IN MY RIGHT MIND imagine that a guy wearing a fully lined loafer be it in loafer socks or sockless can say his feet are cooler and more comfortable than sandals which offer much better ventilation and don't need socks!

There are sandals that look rediculous

sandals may never look as stylish as an oxford or loafer, but there are some out there can be stylish.

This I can live with. The farther you get from water (or, indeed sand), the less appropriate sandals become. Would you wear this combination to a wedding in the city on a hot day, or an outdoor wedding in the country when it's 95 degrees?

Well wearing sandals at a wedding, regardless of heat is inappropriate and doesn't fit with the formal dress code, but you don't go to a wedding everyday. On a typical summer day, It's a simple matter of comfort vs. asthetics. There needs to be a compromise somewhere.

You are asking a question and you are contesting the replies..
It is a bit strange to say the least...
People do not like sandals except one sfer...
The negative tone of our answers were already in your question...

No I wouldn't. I would wear shoes. In fact, this may be the only situation that I could ever image wearing sandals again with a suit. But the beach on a hot, humid day in Mexico begs for sandals.

I suppose I would do the same thing if I owned a pair, which I don't.
