My absolute favorite though: You and someone local decide to meet up. Price is already agreed upon, so it should just be a fast swap...then the person tries to low-ball you in person, hoping that you cave  in since the money is on the table.

I used to buy restore and then sell cars on ebay. Once I bought a VW Cabriolet for my wife, restored it used it for the summer, then sold it on ebay. The woman asked me a dozen or so questions before hitting the BIN on ebay. When it came time to pay she asked if I could meet her half way to RI fron NYC. I told her if she sent the whole payment via paypal right now, I would drive the car all the way up to her (found out she didn't even know how to drive stick but "the car is soooo cute!".

Me and a pal and his girl drove up, me in the Cabby and they in my Jetta. Blew a tire on the Jetta going and blew out the back windshield coming back. We get there and the chick's brother is asking all kinds of questions and because the title was in my wife's name they decided to file a claim with their card company (when I was on the trip home). Even her granddad said, "would he have driven all the way up here if he thought the car wouldn't make it?" She even said to me "how do I know if the car isn't stolen or something?". I almost caught a case that day.

Then there was the dude who hit the BIN on a BMW convertible I sold the next year. I meet him halfway in Allentown and he's like $1,000 short. WTF??? You hit the BIN which means you agreed to my price and now that I drive all the way here in the middle of the night in the freezing cold you try to lowball me? And on top of that you bring me a Nike box full of ones, fives and tens? It was so cold I counted the money three times and still counted wrong. I eventually got all of the cash as he gave me a check but still, I should be in jail right now. Really.

Then there was the dude who flew here from Atlanta after hitting the BIN on a Range Rover I was selling. I met him at the airport and he drove the car and then offered me 50% of the BIN. I really almost caught a case on that one. I had already bought the car I currently have and needed to dump the Rangie. What a tool. I learned my lesson at least with cars. No more. I like freedom.

What I love are the explanations as to why you should reduce the price.

I've actually had pretty good experiences selling things here.

Some of my best selling experiences were on here. But then you have the dudes that have the SF mentality of "I should pay less than what you paid in order for it really to be a deal".

My recent favorite is "I will need to have some alterations done and my tailor is expensive".
