What do you wear to a sports event?

People are going to "the game" again this summer (baseball basketball, whatever it may be). I deserve to be roasted for this but: what do I wear to a baseball or basketball game these days?

For starters, I don't like to wear a jersey of a player who is currently playing - here are my reasons:
  • half the time they're younger than me
  • I think it's weird to wear what one man wears to work on your own back
  • you don't see people at the hospital wearing scrubs when they go to visit their grandma in her recovery room
  • they're expensive and a lot of time the player doesn't last for more than a few seasons
  • they're endorsements of whatever that player/person themselves endorse
Admittedly it makes sense that most people simply default and wear jerseys/team shop t-shirts and sweatshirts. Contrarians can't resist the urge to be different here - However I think to totally opt out in this scenario is a recipe for judgement. I kind of look like a chach if I'm wearing team colors via a Def Leopard graphic tee + jeans.

Obviously, this is a nightmare for someone who thinks about what they wear too much.

And what about "jersey-over-button-down-after-work" guy? Is he cool, or do we think he should just rock what the office made him?

I need answers, SF. What do you wear to the game?
