What style "rules" do you guys like to break? I for one love black and brown together. I like to wear brown shoes and a brown belt with black jeans.

I always understood it as conventional wisdom to avoid matching of these colors. I do rock the contrasting belt on occasion though...

I barely ever match my belt to my shoes, if dressing casually. I rock my natural-tan belt with anything.

Yeh, I always thought this rule was more about matching your leathergoods. Also includes briefcase and hatbands, I think. I like a dark brown tweed sportscoat with black jeans or a black polo or jumper underneath.

Now, this reminds me of one of my grandmother's many mindless style rhymes: "blue and green must never be seen". Presumably together.

I get my contrast collar shirts made with self two-button barrel cuffs instead of white french cuffs, and with straight instead of spread collars.
