What music are you listening to lately?

Well I am feeling old.

MTV Asia just ran Nirvana's MTV Unplugged in New York...which still sounds great to this day.

Anyhow, that got me to thinking...I bought it for my brother for Christmas on vinyl in 94....over thirteeeeeen years ago.

Jesus. Really. Im getting old.

Yeah I think a new of the fbbrothers just came out recently. Haven't heard it yet but I love all of his other stuff.

Saw this band last saturday and have been listening to their EP since... LP is coming out next week or something. Really great live show and great do-it-yourself ethic. If you like Fugazi, Jawbox, or good indie and punk music check them out.

If you haven't already, you guys should check out Tobacco's "F'ed Up Friends" DVD. Very similiar demented, sunny psych-pop with amazing videos containing lots of disturbing 80's kitsch.

Discovered Dead Meadow from last weeks episode of The Wire (Jimmy McNulty's kids were listening to the band). Great stuff, they remind me a bit of one of my fave american experimental/psych outfits, Jackie-O Motherfucker.

The Wire is one show that has constantly made just the right musical choices. I'm guessing George Pelecanos might have something to do with that. The man knows his music.
