Breaking in speakers I've been working on with some Sigur Ros ( () )and Radiohead (OK Computer).

As for the speakers... they sound quite nice and while not from the most popular company here I like this particular model. Bose 601 series II's with direct/reflecting speaker array circa 1982ish. Speakers were given to me for free, and refoam kit for the woofers was $30.

You need to get your hands on Sigur's "Heima" DVD.

Glen Hansard (of The Frames) & Marketa Irglova - "The Swell Season"
-Really great stuff. Somewhat of "Iron & Wine" meets "Damien Rice" but with greater complexity. Check out "Drown Out" on the Swell Season myspace page.

Sigur Ros - Heima (Audio DVD)
-Pure gold. A definite must for any Sigur fan.

Vampire Weekend drops today. http://www.myspace.com/vampireweekend I'm kind of torn. They're very derivative (and the whole "Ivy League" shtick is annoying) , but their album has so many good "singles". I think this is the first uber-hyped band in a long time that's actually going to have legs outside the realm of music snobbery. I expect them to blow up. Big-like.

Love love love this band. Saw them live last year, and their energy definitely carries over well. I am, however, kind of disappointed that "Little Giant" didn't make it to the album and that the songs that aren't on their myspace aren't nearly as good.

I was really interested in that Heima dvd when it was released, but I had since forgotten about it. I think one of my London friends had gotten a copy, but it hadn't been released state-side yet, so I forced it out of my mind. Thanks for the reminder! I'll def. grab a copy.

As far as Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova... There music is phenomenal, but I don't know whether to be jealous or angry that they're a "couple" now... he's going on 40, and she's like 19.... God damn the world. She uber-cute. I think I'm just angry that she's not on the singles market, but I'll probably be happy things like this are possible when I hit 40. end of rant.

Today it's been a mix. Old Dischord Records band... Grey Matter. Then some of The Jam, followed by Manic Street Preachers. Gonna have to play Motorcycle Emptiness one more time at ear bleeding volumes.
