Already had it. Not too happy with it.

Maybe your proportions are off? I like the Gary Regan version:

2 oz. gin
0.75 oz. lemon juice
0.5 oz. maraschino
0.25 oz. creme de violette

I tried the same with 0.5 oz lemon juice. I found the maraschino to be too prominent. But that probably was because I wanted to taste the CdV in the foreground.

Insane Easter service was mostly fueled by a kind of mock Negroni. Aperol, North Shore #11 Gin, freah grapefruit juice, and a touch of grapefruit pulp.

I was really puzzled at first, wondering what kind of church you attend. And then I realized that you meant a different kind of "Easter service."

Carpano Antico..... worth it?

I don't want to throw half the bottle away, but am thinking about picking it up when I'm in Chicago in a couple weeks.

Try before you buy. Carpano Antica has a very strong vanilla flavor that may not be to your liking. It's not really my cup of tea, so I'm sticking to Dolin, which comes in small bottles.

Dolin Blanc is particularly delicious. It mixes well and is great by itself.

I bought a bottle recently and have been underwhelmed. I prefer Punt e Mes at around half the price.

I like it a lot. But only had the NP in comparison, which is quite bland, imo. But yep, the vanilla definitely is there. Anyone had Cocchi Storico?

In favor of Easter an egg white cocktail

Round Robin
1 oz Brandy (substituted with cognac)
1 oz absinthe (substituted with pastis)
1 oz egg white
1 bs syrup
couple dashes OFW

Dry shake, then 2 min + shake with ice. I'm quite happy with the result.

When opening my pastis bottle, this happened. :fu:

Rescue attempt failed. Now there a a big part of the cork in it.

Should I do something about it? Or won't it really matter? Only thing I could do is fill the remains in a different bottle...

Dude, my bottle of North Shore #11 gin suffered a similar fate, except that the entire cork part of the T-top got stuck in the neck while just the black top broke off. WTF
