The grenadine actually adds a nice sweetness to the drink, but not overpowering that you can't taste the floral notes of the gin. I actually just used the regular old supermarket light cream I had sitting in the fridge. The story is that it's one of the first "girly" drinks made, mostly due to the color, but also because of the texture and frothiness from the cream (and egg white, which I left out as I didn't have eggs) and the sweeter taste. From the 2oz of gin, it's more like a pretty looking date **** cocktail.

I left around 9 and went to a wine bar with some co-workers for a nice Sancerre. Had some duck liver pate, delicious. A few bottles of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo floated around, but I only had a little as I was in the Sancerre mood.

One of the guys expensed it all

I had some of last year's William Larue Weller and Macallan Cask Strength tonight. Was in a sweet mood I suppose.

Mine is due to a raised ALT.

I'm hoping the weight loss will allow an occasional week day tipple in several months.

I will be glad to help by taking a few bottles off of your hand

. The guys at work certainly aren't bashful about keeping a handful of bottles in the office.
