Was at the farmer's market in @Fueco 's turf yesterday and tasted some ciders from this place:


All 4 of these were quite good. Much more of a wine-makers approach to cider, apples+yeast only, no sweeteners or flavoring, texture much closer to sparkling wine than beer.

There’s a place in Door county WI that does this type of cider. I believe they call in Normandy style. Could be because of the style of apple though. I think it more interesting and yes, more like a vintners approach.

I was feeling a bit nostalgic… It’s no longer a twist top, but this is still a solid beer and was my intro to craft beers some 24 years ago.

Redbreast 12 Cask Strength - solid, if generally inoffensive, dram

That's been my general perception of Irish whiskey. It's mostly well crafted, but very subtle and nothing especially memorable.

I can't recall any truly great examples, although that could very much be because of what available for purchase around here.
