Have you no swizzle stick? Sounds good, but .5oz does seem like a lot of bitters.

@edinatlanta, The book cameo is just for you...

Dude Double NEIPA at Gunbarrel Brewing with lunch from the Colorado Fried Chicken Company (also based out of Gunbarrel).

2 oz 23 year old Rhetoric Orphan Barrel
1 oz Cocchi Rosa
1 dash Angostura Bitters

I picked the Cocchi as it's light and fruity and I find there's too much oak in the 23, too bitter. This worked perfectly together and the long finish is buttery, smooth caramel sauce. Yes, this did not suck.

Been making rum old fashioneds lately, love it.

Tried Plantation OFTD and Hampden Overproof so far. Plantation gives a bit more fruity/banana-y note, while Hampden gives a woodier/smokier vibe

Aren't you in CA? Pick up Dr. Bird. (Have we discussed that?)

Am I the only one who thinks that compared to rum and gin, bourbon is one dimensional? Rum and gin, in my opinion, can have infinite variations based on technique, barrel treatment, botanicals in the case of gin, distillation methods, etc, whereas barrel treatment seems to be the dominating variable for bourbon.

Totally there with you bud. Gin and rum are way more interesting. I think Gin even more so.
