View attachment 1097274 View attachment 1097275 Took a long bike ride to the mall with my boys and stop by the AE store. On a whim, I picked up some beige laces. They are selling all of their colored laces for either $.97 or $1.97. I thought the beige laces might complement the beige contrast stitching on these Florsheim PTBs. I think it looks pretty sweet (check the before and after). Incidentally, my eight-year-old son proudly told the salesperson that his dad buys all of his shoes used and fixes them up. He then he said with equal pride that he helps me polish them. Proper shoe care is an underrated aspect of modern child rearing. Great day.

Sweet PTBs.

You really cleaned those up nicely.

I would love to know when and where these were made. They fit like glove with and medium thickness sock. They are a quality shoe. I think they may be a better built shoe compared to my AE Leeds.
A few months back @Billy love I picked up Barrie Booter PTB’s. That brand was sold near Yale U. My guess is that my pair were made by Alden’s. The other Barrie, most likely yours, were from the UK. Not sure if they were a standalone brand, or were made by other big names.

I sure like them, and I hope you are enjoying yours as well. They are on my feet today.

Barrie did source from other shoe makers for their in store sales. Same as what Brooks Brothers currently do. Usually from very good makers of the day. I had one shell PTB from their store and was impressed with the quality.

Vintage McHale shoe, by John McHale. These were from their cheap line produced near the end. Corrected grain really shows their age.
