Using your fabric for topcoat

Hello, everyone. Sorry if this is the wrong section for this question. First time poster, bit of a lurker over the years. I'm in Chicago and looking to get a custom topcoat made for a reasonable price. Been indecisive on fabric but I think I'm going with a grey herringbone with donegal flecking from Magee. I thought it'd be cheaper to buy my own and take it to a shop or tailor, but some have told me that the pricing structure would be the same. I'm still waiting to hear back from ESQ.

Spier and Mackay has the fabric for their MTO outerwear, but I wanted flapped patch pockets and not slash, which seems to be the only option for their single breasted. Still waiting to hear back from them on whether or not they can switch that. For the most part I like how their 38s coats fit me, so I'll just go with them if they can accommodate.

Are there any other good options? Does someone know of a tailor in the Chicago area who could do it for under 1,000. Or is that unreasonable.
