So just to follow up, is anyone else interested in getting some madras shirting?

http://patchwork-madras.weebly.com

Last week, we had about ~5 people express interest. If anyone else wants to join in, let me know and I'll send DMs next week to organize. We need about 30 meters to place an order, but they can be mixed and matched however you guys' like. (ie we don't all have to order the same pattern).

Cost is about $5/ meter, though you should expect to pay a little more for shipping. (I'm not taking any profit here, and will ship at cost.)

Did this end up happening? I was hoping to get in on it, but never heard anything.
The -12 degrees f it was this morning has me dreaming of summer shirting.

There wasn't enough interest last time. If people are interested, I'd be happy to organize an order (no profit on my part). I wouldn't mind a couple shirt lengths.

Note, the bleeding madras isn't available. Only the non-bleeding stuff.

At the narrow widths they sell, you're looking at about 10 shirts maximum from 30 meters. At $150 for an order that would be $15/shirt if you amortize it fully, or $30 if you only make 5.

I think the 13oz book is standard fare, the 16oz is the one that is hard to come by.

Harrison's remade the 13 oz. and the 8-9 oz. Lessers books a year or so ago, so I don't think there's a shortage of those. Harrison's has said that it's considering remaking the 16 oz book.

I have suits in both the P&B Fine Classics and Minnis Classic, and I think they're both very good. They both drape well, don't wrinkle much, hold a crease, and seem hard wearing. They both have nice sharkskins which are more defined and less smooth than the Lessers 13 oz. I like their look better. See pic below. Lessers on left, P&B on right. On this site, a Harrison's representative talks about the differences between the Lessers and P&B books. http://harrisonsofedinburgh.proboards.com/thread/6

A response from the madras people:

We have only one bleeding madras fabric in stock, at this time, and this is as per the picture attached. It has been dyed exclusively using vegetable and fruit dyes.

The patchworks are non-bleeding.

Was this order to generate a new run of fabric not currently in stock?

The Smith Botany book also has some fantastic sharkskins that have the resolution/contrast of the Minnis and Harrisons versions with the feel of the Lesser 13 oz. They also have several shades from light to dark grey.

Unfortunately, this does not say which one it is.
Sorry, I couldn't get the link to transfer over. It's a fairly boring cream/tan pattern, not one of the ones listed on their Bleeding Madras page.

Now they're saying for a true custom order of what is not in stock, minimum order is 100m. Price would be close to $10/m.

Apparently the new Harrison's made Lesser fabrics aren't like they once were. I have no idea if it is just a bunch of bologna though.

I recall a lengthy debate on this at LL.

I wish they would remake the 9.5/10 but it doesn't look like that's happening.
