It is really hard to picture what they might look like on your size wrist...I'm about a 7.5" and I would say that up to a 40-42mm case doesn't look obscenely out of place.

Nice calls on the IWC...it's Swiss...but, Swiss-German. [IMG]

EdenResident - if you like that style of chrono, you should also check out the Longines Master Chronograph. It is a sweet looking watch and will cost you $1-1.5k. Case is 40mm

Here is one for sale now on TZ:

If it makes you feel better, he doesn't have a Beretta but rather a much cheaper and inferior Brazilian made copy, the Taurus.

Maybe the watch is fake too?

You guys obviously know your watches. Perhaps you could help me with a little question. I've been craving a Breguet Classique Simple for a while now. Yet they seem not to get much attention here and elsewhere. Are they an exclusively European taste? Is there something I don't know? [IMG]

I think that is an attractive watch but do feel that American tastes run more towards sporty casual type things as opposed to the dressier look of Breguet.

Breguet is interesting in that their watches replicate the looks of their vaunted pocket-watches without any fundamental changes. I, however, did find their Tradition watches rather ugly as that particular look doesn't work well in pocket-watches much less a wrist-watch. In fact, what they're displaying here are the guts of a pocket-watch, never intended to be seen.

I agree that's a rather ugly watch. There aren't that many of the range that appeal to me aesthetically, though I'm instinctively drawn to their heritage and romance. The one I posted is classically simple and elegant, but quite a few are a little gauche. Particularly when they stray into the sportier territory, presumably to compete in the US market, they look wrong-footed and uncomfortable.

I may soon take the plunge...

On another forum somone, in reference to Breguet and their Marketing (Dumas/Count of Monte Christo advertising), someone said:

"Breguet and Blancpain are probably among the brands with the highest hype factors. Taking away the marketing fluff, they are excellent watch companies that rely almost exclusively on movements they did not design (even if their corporate group now owns the companies that designed the movements). I do not consider their stated histories to be continuous enough to be worthy of respect; however, if one is to evaluate them based on their supposed histories, each has long periods of mediocre to poor quality for which to answer. Several companies (including Patek, Vacheron and Audemars) really have never had mediocre periods, and their histories are real. "

I wouldn't say (in regards to LK) that there is an aversion to them for being "dressy"; but, much of the look doesn't seem very modern and recalls, as said, the look of a very old pocket watch or Grandfather clock.

All that being said the only model I like is the Marine
