I need a day counter on a watch so the 210 would be out. I find myself looking at my watch before I look at the corner of a computer screen for the date. Do they make a Rad 42mm with date only and no small seconds. Too many PAMs out there I don't know where to start.

Edit: Does the 512 have a date version?

JB There are options there in the line up and with a stark choice, for me.

The RAD California is 47mm PAM 424

1000

RAD 3 Days 421

1000

and 514 or 515

1000

I think you're right, there is a lot out there, you've rightly made this point before. For me it's about assessing what we are looking for then doing a little research and Boom!

I don't believe there are any Pams with a date and no seconds. (edit: As I can see above, I was wrong.)

Personally I dislike dates on a Panerai, but check Pam 62:

- 40mm, white gold and a Zenith el Primero movement. And if you have to live with a sub seconds on a Radiomir, this is nicely placed. Alternatively it should be placed all the way to the edge, like on a Luminor Marina (unlike the unfortunate placement on the 183 and 190).

And I can definitely see where you stand with Ostrich. It does kind of look like leather with acne. But by that same logic, I guess you could say that gator looks scaley? Or lizard looks like dermatitis? It is a slippery slope! For me, ostrich is just so incredibly supple. I find it substantially more comfortable than gator. Also, at least from CF, a gator strap is something I need to save for. The 21mm lugs on the MUT Moon have their drawbacks.
To be honest, the only exotic skin that really interests me is croc or alligator, otherwise I'd prefer a nice simple calf skin. While your comparison of other skins to other dermatology issues is entertaining, to me croc and alligator look elgant and luxurious. Its rare for these vicious animals to grow to a certain size without sustaining battle wounds that reduce the value or usability of their skins. These animals are dangerous to man and their own kind, often battling each other even when raised on farms etc. The difficulty in getting good quality, undamaged skins is part of what causes croc or alligator to cost so much more than other exotic skins.

IMHO, lizard and python are road kill in many parts of the States, so I wouldn't consider paying a premium for them. Ostrich, I just don't think looks luxurious or attractive (it looks like it needs Clearisil), nor is it that difficult to get good skins from them, so I see little reason to pay a premium for it. But that's just my 2 cents.

On straps for the MUT, I'll second both Dino (I don't like ostrich, exept maybe from the leg, which I don't believe looks as plagued?)
Yes, actually ostrich leg looks completely different, and loos more like a reptile skin. It doesn't have the quill marks (acne). I would give a passing mark to ostrich leg.
Earlier Dino asked for a lume shot of my Seiko, so here it is!

Very cool !! Thanks for the lume shot Hayward.

If it's anything like 2013, NMWA will have a sale and you will sell your soul Rolex.

But I wish you better things. :)

Brown on gold / opaline white dial works well IMHO.

Been traveling a lot, so bought a travel watch. The two of us are about to spend the next 16-1/2 hours in the air between ATL and JNB.
