The comparison to Sid Mashburn is apt. Browsing the sale, I found myself thinking it would be better to buy from SM because I know the fit is unlikely to be odd, and if I need to make a return, they won't take 3-4 months to return my money.

I wish Sid Mashburn would provide measurements on their website, though I know a lot of industry folks don't find this all that useful as garments can fit different than their measurements suggest. I do find SM, especially in tailoring, to be very consistent from season to season. Drake's seems to take more chances.

The customer service concerns at Drake's is a bit more perplexing as a number of associates have worked for both companies. Not too long ago the manager of Drake's NYC store was a former Mashburn gent. Maybe it's just too few doing too much, something many of us can certainly relate to.

I can't defend Drake's Archive web experience at all, but Mashburn's site was pretty bad during high sales volume in the beginning too. To their credit, and after a couple iterations, Mashburn sorted it out and I hope Drake's does too.

Anyone who received a partial shipment received another shipment for the rest of their order? I had a shipment for 2 items yesterday, but no word on my other 2 items. Perhaps those 2 are coming from New York?

My order went through 4 minutes after the sale started but still no despatch confirmation.

I have two orders, both made early on in the sale, and only two hours apart from each other. The first order has already been shipped but no word yet on the second order...

I've always ordered something in the first few hours of the sale. Usually I've received my shipping notifications about 3-4 days later.

Yea, I don't think of Sid Mashburn as a particularly "storytelling" company. Seems like the old haberdasher model, where a single individual with a strong eye for style gives advice to men on how to dress and curates some selection for them. Drakes does lookbooks, editorials, etc.

Good point, I suppose I like more narrative, typed stories versus visual. I do enjoy Drake's quarterly cocktail writeup

The stars aligned and I was fortunate enough to grab the Brown, Green and Burgundy Houndstooth Wool Jacket, which I had been lusting after for months and figured I'd probably never get except as a longshot. Got a shipping confirmation within about eight hours too. Assuming it shows up as expected, I'm quite pleased.

Not 100% sure about the jacket fit but I tried on my usual size at a Drake's popup show a couple years ago and I remember it fitting quite well so I'm cautiously optimistic, assuming there isn't that much variance among different styles.

I will save my griping about Drake's borderline false advertising about VAT deductions and fuzzy math for another day lol
