Great to see how bespoke have aged - an important part of the decision making process for observers. Great post and thanks again. Would even be great to see the soles and have fitting comments!

Thank you. I honestly don't know what the upper leather is, although it looks remarkably similar leather to the pair Simon Crompton commissioned. I went in and asked for a very dark brown pair of cap toe oxfords and they selected what they thought was best. I did however, specify vegetable tanned lining and insole leather based on their advice that it copes with moisture better and it just so happens to offer a subtle contract to the dark brown.

Nice looking pair Steven! Interesting heel shape, with the tapered back part which goes over to a more cuban heel shape along the edges. Haven't seen that before. Did you specify it?

Thank you. I didn't specify anything with the heel. Most of the samples in their showroom were quite tapered so I assume it is their house style. I must confess

that it makes my G&G Decos look like a pair of wellington boots in comparison.

Steven: Ok cool. Yeah they usually have tapered heels, but to tapper the back and move towards inwards curved sides (cuban heels when the whole heel has it) isn't something I've seen I believe.

Ah I see. No I definitely didn't specify it, but quite like it.

Thanks for the info Jesper.

It surprises me the "low" price of Cleverley.

I'm visiting Rome in December, I'll try to get the prices from Marini, Pettrocchi, Gatto and Perticone.

Best,
