Which members here are thrifting in the Toronto/GTA area? I need to keep an eye on my competition.
It's distasteful to ask everyone in your area to do a roll call just because you're not willing to actually read the second thread and sort things out for yourself. This is a community of people sharing the cool stuff they found. If you've got something cool to share, go ahead and do so. The thread is not meant to be used to keep tabs on those around you without contributing anything yourself. If that's how you're going to use it, at least do us the courtesy of keeping quiet.

I dont quite understand your hostility. I'm a new member to this forum and also a bit of a newcomer to the thrifting game in Canada since I just moved here from the Netherlands. I have read through the thrifting threads in the past, but found it hard to keep track of who is thrifting where. I dont plan on stalking my competitors, but I am interested in what they find on their trips and if they pick up certain things that I left on the rack but that they found interesting enough to buy. Once I have some really good finds myself I will be more than happy to contribute to this thread and share my purchases.

Welcome to Canada and to the forum. I'm glad to hear you're looking to contribute rather than stalk your competitors (I assumed otherwise, which was the reason for my hostility). If you do stick around and contribute, I'm sure it will become apparent which members are local to you and which finds are worth another look.

I find the result of knowing the thrift thread regulars in your area is mostly massive amounts of fomo and envy, especially when they hit the store an hour after you and start posting Hermès shots live.

True in a way, but its easy to become envious to see finds made by members, regardless of their location on the globe. I wouldnt mind seeing posts made by members in my area that have great finds. Thrifting is all about luck and in the case of professional thrifters, preparation and dedication. If they call pull it off and pull out some cool clothes all the better. It would inspire me to keep going out there and look for gems too.

Give me a second to explain. I’m getting lots of great ingredients. And I can get them out and bake a cake great, but it’s not easy. You know how chefs combine **** for flavors and what not? Takes time dude. Same metaphor applies to me with a good suit. I got good taste. A fair working knowledge of things and familiarity with everything. I can source things, I got money. Problem is, I’m athletic and slim. Combine that with who I am, my physical appearance and lifestyle all that. I can’t wear a pinstriped Prada banker suit don’t work. Some sort of John Varvatos type rocker suit **** seems to work. I went to armani emporio and tried on a rack suit, and it looked how you would imagine.... fantastic and ****. But, I’m not trying to come off weird but the suit seems like it’s for someone powerful to me. I don’t feel like I pull enough strings. I need something that fits my personality and body. Not easy.

You ever see a Paul Stuart tee shirt with Philippines on it?
I went crazy with the toys...

You got the scarcity mentality. I guarantee if I showed up in your town on your doorstep in the morning and we went out with the intentions of getting it, we would. It’s in your head, that’s what holds you back. Your not trained to go. I just go get it. Or it comes to me, I magnetized.

I get what you're saying, that no matter how many thrifters are out there its always possible to find good stuff. I agree, but then again I dont have as much knowledge about what exactly constitutes "good stuff" unlike a lot of the members in this thread, especially when it comes to vintage items or other non high end men's dress clothing brands. I have to do some more research, so I can make sure I dont leave gems hanging on the rack and recognize what passes through my hands.

My best finds always happen when the Moms calls and says she’s rejiggering the attic floors or something, and if I want something, I better come get it, b/c this isn’t a storage facility, etc. The Goodwills continue to vomit JCrew, but lo — it’s The Toadies first self-released single from back when they took 2nd place in a college battle of the bands, and there will be some Bonk’s Adventure to be had tonight...

BOOM!
A turbo grafx !!!!!!!!!!
