Was hoping for more rugbys. Fingers crossed the subsequent jersey drops will be better. This “Jersey II” release seems pretty pointless. Who buys joggers from Drakes?
I’m in the market for a good jogger myself.. saw the Drake’s but don’t like its somewhat baggy fit. Been wearing a Merz b Schwanen for a while now and really need a replacement, but they are hard to find. Would be great if some other company can provide something similar. Fwiw I paid around the same for my Merz as the Drake’s is listed for. This “Jersey II” release seems pretty pointless. Who buys joggers from Drakes?
FTFYI can see people coming for $200-$300 sweats going on to buy outerwear, sweaters, chore coats and maybe even some tailored clothes down the line * at the Archive Sale
Guyabera
It's a complicated topic in general but my overall take is that it's probably fine. I think it's really only problematic if Drake's was to obscure the origins of the shirt, like for example if they took the guayabera design and acted like it was something they came up with on their own. Or if the guayabera had specific cultural connotations that Drake's version does not respect, such as when white people unthinkingly wear Native American headdress without understanding the symbolism. They're doing neither of those things as far as I can tell.
I think it behooves us to ask these questions and be mindful of cultural sensitivities but it doesn't strike me as inherently problematic in this case. I will, of course, defer to those of Latin American origin who may disagree with me, but that's my two cents.
Does anyone else feel kind of uncomfortable about the Guyabera shirts? Obv cultural appropriation is a much larger and more complex topic, but the Guyabera feels very much in the same vein as say, a Dashiki, as something that's just so far culturally removed from drake's uber-british vibe that it starts setting off alarm bells
What on earth has “virtue signalling” and “collective guilt” got to do with socialism? This is the stupidest post that I’ve ever seen on this forum, and there’s a lot of idiots here.
Pray tell, why would releasing a shirt without any distinct origins that has been worn by Europeans for at least a century be cultural appropriation?
How can you compare a Guyabera shirt to a Dashiki? What drugs are you on? Nobody even knows where the Guyabera shirt comes from!
I understand that we live in a socialist society that’s obsessed with virtue signalling and collective guilt, but dear God man, get a bloody grip.
Does Gucci releasing their stylised take on a Dashiki, and Valentino their take on a Jinbei offend you too?
You shouldn’t be wearing trad menswear, you should be wearing skirts and high heels you girl.
What on earth has “virtue signalling” and “collective guilt” got to do with socialism?
Where do you live that you believe is a socialist society?I didn’t say that they had anything to do with socialism. I said we live in a socialist society where the aforementioned are the norm. White privilege and the like.
Where do you live that you believe is a socialist society?
If you live in the west and you haven’t seen the progression toward socialism, then you’re blind. The rise of BLM, etc.Where do you live that you believe is a socialist society?
The workers have ceased control of the means of production in the west? Corporations have been brought under control of the people? The factories have been collectivised? If you live in the west and you haven’t seen the progression toward socialism, then you’re blind. The rise of BLM, etc.
