Yeah, that's about my limit too. I really really love the boots, but I've got more than enough shoes now to last me many years. I'm ok with the price tag since I'll be wearing the hell outta these. I couldn't justify that price for something I would only wear once a month though.

Actually, Californians have to pay tax also since they have a store in California also... Alden SF.

Luckily for me it doesn't matter where Alden has a store!

Why is cigar considered rare shell? Does Horween need a clear skin to make it? I am sincerely curious. There have been batches of cigar that has been darker than #8, and that's part of the reason for this question.

The recent run of cigar boots from DC looks quite nice. Enjoy them. Cheers.

This is an eternal mystery...
It has been pondered before.

Still $805 is a lot. Won't be long till they breach $1000 at this rate...

-Mike

Shoot dang, gotta consider raising my classified at this rate (*joking... but probably not joking)

Honestly I don't know, but my personal opinion is that it has to do with marketing. While I universally enjoy most shades of #8, there are only a few shades of Ravello, Cigar, and Whiskey that I truely like. This is why I was anxious to see the cigar boots in person yesterday. Had they turned out nearly black, I might have passed on them. I agree though that the shade turned out to be killer, so I'm really happy with them.

Unfortunately no one can answer that. It has been discussed quite a few times here. The "old cigar", maybe. The new stuff doesn't seem to need anything special.
