My LS preorder came in today. Alden Safari makeup, snuff suede, Plaza last.

These boots are so comfortable and Plaza sleekness is amazing. I'm extremely happy.

Does anyone know if the J Crew Ludlow shop still has the Ravello longwings still in stock or plan to restock them if they sold out? Thanks.

Gents: Unipair Guy has been on the Alden thread lately. I worked with him a few months ago to acquire a pair of EG Dovers. The experience was exceptionally pleasant. Unipair has some Alden models no one else has (ex. Whiskey captoe blucher).

That is a pleasure to hear from one of our first international customers. We are still new to Styleforum but it is our goal to provide a variety of brands and models and make sure every customer has a pleasant experience purchasing from us. I will check and see what we have left in whiskey and post it up.

RTP, could you guide me as to where I can get the 9901s at a discount? Thank you for being so helpful
Unfortunately that was two years ago in Philadelphia and I'm not sure you'll ever find that again. The next time BB has its corporate sale with 30% off, you might be able to get their PTBs for about 550-600 with tax and shipping.

they'll have a pair of 11d's headed back to them (as soon as I receive the shipping label). I'm an 11.5, they had a pair being sent to me but they were lost in shipping. they sent me the 11's to try but they're too small.

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately I need a 10. I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they have in stock. I love that makeup with the gold eyelets.

Remember though, that converting your 975s to antique edge will not look like the models you mentioned. The outside edge may be light, but the storm welt (or top portion of that particular edge) will remain black; even an accomplished cobbler can not change that. To me, conversion isn't worth it. I'm with SevenFTG on this one. I like the black edge for color 8. If you want a blucher or a boot with a dark color shell and antique edge, I'd go with cigar. If you really like color 8 and the antique edge, I'd buy it just like that from Leffot and not go through the conversion. Others may disagree with me, but I'm cool with that.

I haven't gone through with it, but I swear I read on here in the past that B.Nelson can change the welt.

What about if you wanted to go from antique to dark brown? I think SFTG had this done on some cigar LWBs? I'd think this would be easier, since there would be no sanding involved.

If you do a complete resole, sure, But my understanding was that top portion of the welt is too difficult to sand and stain. However, I am no cobbler and I absolutely could be wrong. I do remember seeing conversion pics on here, I believe, done through B Nelson, and the top portion of the welt was still black. Can anyone confirm or deny any of this?
