I sell shoes that I don't wear as much as others in my rotation and because I buy a different shoe/boot that has too much overlap.

Example: I had a Color #8 shell cordovan Indy on commando. I got the opportunity to buy a Cigar shell cordovan U-tip (plaza last) also on commando. They were too similar for me to justify both (although I know plenty of people who would keep both), so I sold the Color #8 pair after only a year. Don't worry, I still have a Color #8 MCT boot on double leather, so my Color #8 thirst was still quenched.

I put on 15lb of muscle and now none of my shoes fit. I've got a sizable collection that I'll be selling on here once I get around to taking some pictures.

Alden Madison Trubalance Color 8 Perforated Captoe Boots

These were one of their GMTO runs from back in 2020-2021. Selling because I am firmly a half size up now.
  • Size 8D
  • Trubalance Last
  • Color 8 Shell
  • Double Leather Soles
  • Antique Flat Welt
  • Indy Side Stitch
Condition: I don't remember how many wears are on these, but there's lots of life left on the soles. A few scuffs here and there, mostly on heels.

Asking $300 USD shipped CONUS. Original box and bags included. Box is falling apart FWIW.

Alden x Ealdwine Black Chamois Cap Toe Boot. Size 8.5D, 379x last, hooks, commando sole. Minimal wear. Original box, bags and other packaging included. $375 shipped conus via PP.

Alden Factory Seconds via TSM. Dark Brown Country Grain Perf Cap Toe Boot. Modified last, size 8.5D. Hooks, single leather sole. There is a defect in the leather on the right boot's toe cap (as shown in the photo) that I assume is the reason for FD status. That was the only thing I could find when I inspected them upon receipt from TSM. Shoes only, no box or bags. $275 shipped conus via PP.

I just want to underscore that "doesn't fit like when bought" is more complex than it sounds on styleforum.

Folks here have very particular expectations of their footwear, and a lot of options to get it right. Maybe they don't like the last shape, or the width, or maybe the leather combo fits differently. It can be fine and a very liveable thing to any other person. Like others have said, you may not realize that it's not ideal for you only after a few wears, or coming back to it after some time. When you're an enthusiast and collector with many options, it's very tempting and accessible to get the exact fit (and style) you want, even if you take a bit of a hit on the price.

People sell for all sorts of reasons. Buying shoes online for me is extremely difficult and where I live there are no Brick and Mortar stores so I have to go off people's experiences and sometimes it doesn't work out. For example, I bought a pair of Crockett and jones loafers but the sizing is off for me so now I have to sell them.

^^ Same thing for me living in South America. I have a bunch of Barrie / Van lasted Aldens, all good, but never nailed down my Aberdeen size with my wide feet.

I do need to pass on some Aldens in this thread next time I'm in the US...

Where are you based? I'm in São Paulo.

I'm usually an 8D or 8.5D on the more generous lasts (Modified, Tru Balance, Barrie) and a 8.5D or 9E on the narrower ones (Aberdeen, Leydon).

But yeah, nothing like trying them on person. Going up/down half sizes and trying different widths is helpful.

U can sell from where U R now, no?
I have just sold 2 pairs of Aldens on another platform, to the US and Europe. Shipping from Brazil cost me $80-100 with Fedex. Steep, but that's life. Each package weighted a bit under 4lbs. Couldn't find a local buyer.

I guess it was worth it for the almost new pair of 986 I sold. Not so much for the $250 Crockett & Jones that needed resoling lol.
