^This. I'm 5'11" with what I thought were normal length arms until I tried on my first SS jacket. I wish all RTW makers would stop with the working buttons as its just annoying...
I agree. My first and only SS suit was altered from a 40L sleeve to fit my arms and it looks bad. The working sleeves are so far from the edge it just looks weird.

This thread was a HUGE help in me finding the perfect suit for my wedding. THANK YOU ALL

I went with the La Spalla Blue Plain

I received many compliments and could not have been happier with my choice. It was exactly what i had envisioned when i first started looking around

Here's a few pics of how it came out

I'm curious as to why you decided to button the top button of your jacket.

The La Spalla is not a 3 button suit (despite the fact that it has three buttons). It's a "2.5 button suit," meaning the top button is for decorative purposes and is not meant to be used, and the jacket is cut to drape properly with only the middle button fastened.

That said, I don't think it looks bad with the top button fastened, but it would probably look even better without.

in regards to the sometimes, always never rule

what are the qualifiers for "sometimes"?
More or less, "sometimes" means if you feel like it or just plain old if it looks good. You get to be the judge.

However, as others pointed out, that's for a 3 button jacket, not a 2.5. I think the "sometimes, always, never" rule though is in specific reference to 2.5 button jackets.

i feel like they could have made a better choice for the fabric when introducing a new line. But, I guess I don't know what they know. Maybe their thin pin stripe suits sell well. Personally not something I like.
I would guess for that particular cut, construction and price point, the target market is the up and coming banking and finance guys. Blue pinstripe makes sense in that case. but yeah, not something I would wear.

Hey

I ordered the dark grey Napoli blue line in EU size 52, as suggested by the size advisor, and 54, which made more sense when looking at the measurements. This one:
http://eu.suitsupply.com/en/suits/napoli-dark-grey-plain/P3755.html?start=19&q=napoli

The 52 suit jacket was too small and the pants were a tad tight.

The 54 suit jacket on the other hand was spot on, except for sleeve length. The sleeves are way too short and need to be lengthened approximately one inch. With functioning buttons I am afraid the sleeves will look really weird if lengthened, even if I add an extra button on each sleeve. The trousers are a tad big and would also need to be hemmed and maybe slimmed down a bit. I have really skinny calves compared to my thighs/hips.

- Do you think ordering the 54 long size (106) will solve my problem?

According to the measurements the sleeve length and jacket length is the main difference between 54 and 106. From a classical menswear viewpoint, I could probably benefit from a tad longer jacket at 6'2. The sleeves will probably be perfect and the trouser waist will be a nice middle ground between 52 and 54. The only worrying factor is the upper waist measurement which is slimmer on the 106, but I guess that would be a simple fix for a tailor if it turns out that it is too tight? Are there any other differences between the regular and long size that are not reflected by the measurements?

Sadly there are no size 106 left in that color. I want a solid conservative grey suit, no pinstripes, appropriate for interviews (law). I am already pushing by budget, but with less tailoring involved, I guess this one will end up costing approximately the same as the blue line suit:
http://eu.suitsupply.com/en/suits/napoli-dark-grey-plain/P2525.html?start=3&q=napoli

- Do any of you know how dark it is in person, compared to the Napoli I already have?

On the pictures it looks a lot darker than the one I already have, but the one I have is in my opinion a lot darker than the pictures. I am afraid that the suit will be even darker than the pictures and that it will be mistaken for black by many, which will make it harder to use it in daytime and to find nice shirt/tie combos (and maybe restrict me to wearing black shoes?).

The other grey suits are either with pinstripes or a bit too light grey.

Any help would be appreciated! Ty

Ive seen the dark grey napoli you are considering. It is a dark charcoal. Its definitely as dark as grey gets before it becomes black. I had the same concerns as you. Thats why I ended up going with the navy napoli. On the plus side, the dark grey is very conservative and would suit you well in a law setting. Personally, the navy just looked better on me as I have fair skin. If I had gone with the dark grey, my intention was to wear brown shoes, brown belt.
