I have been shopping for suits for my upcoming interviews. The problem I have is that I am measured for a 52 inch suit jacket but 38 inch waist at 5'10.

I went to suit supply and they said i need a custom suit jacket and dress shirts. total for suit jacket, 1 pants, and 2 shirts is over $1200.

I really did look spectacular when they pinned me for my measurements while wearing the suit.

However, I am looking for cheaper options. Department stores like Macys have horrible suits and fits - even someone like me that never wears suits recognizes how garbage it is. Now, I saw this because I am also familiar with the hate of lower end suits on here.

There was this one suit at Jos. A Banks that fit me quite well and will just require some tailoring for the jacket. The thing is, the suit is $320 (not including shirts) and is a blend of synthetic fabrics with 0 wool. Material was very soft, a bit shiny, but it did fit well on me, I think mainly because it can stretch in the right places.

So, I need advice. Many of the advertised online retailers dont have my size in stock, and it will require significant tailoring. It is a huge risk to buy.

Is my only real affordable option to get a MTM? the suitsupply suit was leagues ahead of the jos a banks suit, but 4x the cost. I sometimes wonder if i can overdress for interviews. Will the Jos a Banks we an ok suit? I just feel like I am getting ripped off paying over 300 for 100% synthetic.

Is the suit suppl custom worth the money? I would have easily paid the 500-700 for suit supply if it fit off the rack with some tailoring, but this custom stuff really drives the price up.

Not sure where you’re located but a Big & Tall shop would be the place to start. Something like a MensWearhouse.com has suits in larger sizes.
