Anyone seen primer? i think that film may have a little too thoughtful, at least for me. Its like what one reviewer said: "anybody who claims [to] fully understand what's going on in Primer after seeing it just once is either a savant or a liar." And I've heard the technical jargon/technobabble is supposed to be pretty legit, any electrical engineers/time travelers here that can comment?

Was a good week for film, I saw Jia Zhang Ke's 24 City and Lars Von Trier's Antichrist.

Both were harrowing. Anyone seen the latter yet? It would make a good discussion thread..

Yes, Antichrist was rather harrowing. Not something to watch for an entertaining evening in with the mrs.
However, I though the opening 5 ' sequence was beautiful. The juxtaposition of the child, the music, the couple... IIRC, the director said that this was the one thing he regretted doing in the film.

I saw Dr. Strangelove for the first time recently. I don't know how good of a commentary it is or was, but it was hilarious. I guess it just didn't pack the same punch because I didn't watch it in '63.

Good list. I wonder, what those same movies on film would run today. Probably hundreds of thousands at least.

Invest in film!

Just saw 2046...after years of putting it off. I like the film, and the style was really something else. Pretty inspirational, sartorially.

Need to re-watch to make complete sense of the convoluted plotlines.

Anyone seen An Education? I was entertained up until the ending. Nothing like a corny voice over to sour a film. Sarsgaard and Carey Mulligan were great. I think the dad was probably miscast.

I thought the dad was pretty good. I agree with you about the ending though. Olivia Williams was great too.
