How's the quality of Classic Wyatt 30 Chelsea boots? I've been wanting a pair for a while now but I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger. Especially now that there are so many cheaper alternatives.

The quality is fine, but it would be dumb to view buying them as a quality proposition.

Agree with jtj48. I have a pair from SS17 and I'd say the quality is pretty high, but certainly not worth the $675 I paid for them. The silhouette is unbeatable, though, and, as has been mentioned here before, has not been replicated anywhere else.

Comfort is another story - not unbearable, but also not CP crepe soles.

@Prudy Great buy, as always! Love seeing the rarer pieces on here. That reminds me of the calf hair-paneled biker jacket from AW14, with the giraffe pattern, that I nearly picked up a year back. Really regret not buying it, especially when it dropped to 80% off on Matches (and, naturally, sold out immediately). Animal print is really the most under represented aspect of the Saint Laurent look, I find. Sure, it takes a bit of guts and it makes a statement, but so do block heels, and everybody seems to own a pair of Wyatts. Frankly, we could do with more of it on here, and I don't just mean the babycat skates.

@Isolar I liked that jacket, too, but if I remember correctly the fit on it wasn't great - too big/oversized, I think. You might have been better off missing out on it!

The SLP animal prints are my fav as well - have many shirts/shoes/cardigans with the baby cat, python, tiger, etc.

@kieran84 I wish they'd bring it back as well but I shudder to think what VAC would do w/ animal print...he'd find some way to make it a bit off and tasteless, lol. Put a 'bad lieutenant' patch on it or something ;)

I had some issues with the first pair I got. The stitching around the elastic bands was loose when I got them in the mail. Fortunately, I was able to swap them at an SLP boutique for a better pair. I find the comfort to be fine, and it compares well to the Common Projects boots. Just make sure you get your proper size and don't size down. No clue about longevity as I've only has mine for a year and have worn them sparingly. I did buy a backup pair because I like the shape so much, though.

Not surprising that quality control is spotty.

As for being comparable to CPs in comfort, I can't agree with that - aside from the SLPs just being a narrower shoe, the sole is very spartan, compared to a fat crepe on the CPs. Walking around for a day in the former is going to hurt, whereas I've tramped across NYC and DC in the latter with (relatively) little discomfort at the end of the day.

It's no coincidence that crepe soles are more comfortable than leather soles—it's by design.

But leather soles are infinitely more polished.
