Finally got myself a pair of RM Williams comfort craftman (in Black), now to check out this thread and the wider forum for styling inspo.

I have seen red wing boots which look interesting, for those who have used them which models are the ones to look for and are they worth the money?

My iron rangers are pobably my most comfortable pair of boots, the toebox is nice and roomy, which is great for me because I always found other boots/shoes to really squish my toes.

If they ever come back in stock I plan to get a black pair

What's the consensus around made to measure suiting options around Melbourne?
I have been informed of places to avoid, but I am curious about your positive experiences and recommendations
The Finery Company from Sydney are having a trunk show shortly, if you’ve got some cash to spend. I forget dates but check their Insta.

Anyone got experience with Trunk Tailors in Melb? Would be curious to hear.
I have been in once or twice to look but I've never ordered.

My general comments are that the finishing is very nice, but the jackets (at least that I saw) are, to my taste, a bit too light - the chest/lapel doesn't really have any drape or structure, it's a sort of shirt-like construction. This might be something that could be varied, I don't know.

For business pants/chinos, what are some good brands to look at that I can get in Brisbane? I'm thinking of something a bit better than Uniqlo.

Also is there a thread somewhere on best menswear stores in each city/state?

So, in a moment of great rarity I'm going to be in Sydney conservative business dress for work in May with a few hours to spare if I play my cards right.

Planning on hitting up SuSu to get a measure on their standard suiting range (Havana block from memory) and see how it fits. Hopefully no alterations required, but we'll see. Also need some new business shirts and I see they sell plenty. I seem to have developed a fetish for wider lapels and this seems a good way to indulge that.

So, anyone here got any experience with them? As in how would they compare to, say Bale shirting? Or even (assuming fit works) Oscar Hunt given pricing at the top end is on par with their MTM?

They have quite a strong inwards curve in the toebox. I have duck shaped feet so the curve cuts into my pinky toe on my right foot. Should probably sell my pair, as I don't find them comfortable.

I need an alterations tailor in Melbourne who will do sleeve buttonholes for a suit. I seem to recall Mila at Magic does? Anyone else?

Jose Zarpan as well. Mila works from home in the Balaclava area now.

TFC no longer do MTM but they have a new product called 'TFC Sartorial' which is a type of semi-bespoke I suppose. I haven't tried it yet but intend to particularly for trousers. I completely trust Joe, he's an excellent fitter.

Morning Aussie folks,

Looking for advice on offloading a collection of suits.

After four years of letting most of my suits sit idle, I’m selling a P Johnson navy suit, 3 Suitsupply sports coats (and 1 Brooks Brothers), and a navy Suitsupply suit. Range in size from 46-50 (all US - so think XL - XXL).

They are on my grailed which is CJWright92.

However, any advice on any sellers (online or in Sydney) who might be interested in taking them as a bundle? They could be collectively sold for $1500+ and I’d take half that to off load as a bundle.

Cheers!

Hi guys,
My missus has spilled some coffee on her nubuck leather purse, and desperately trying to find someone who could help with cleaning and removing the stains (RIP).

Does anybody know anybody in Sydney or Melbourne who has the skills to pull it off? I am reaching out to the team at Baxter and Black in Syd to see what they can do, but any suggestions are much appreciated!

Bless,

Invisible mending recs in Melb peeps?
Jenny Fei, top dr do all in the c b d. Saved many of my garments in the past few years - knits and woven

A few years ago my summer jacket had a rip and ~60 pulled threads of varying degrees from my friend's cat going to town on it. Wouldnt even know it happened now. I only know where the damage was due to photos i took before she mended it.

Another one worth mentioning is my PS Summer wool Polo came apart at the armpit seam and the knit unravelled at the shoulder. She fixed the armpit by hand and re-knitted the shoulder, had to patch it with some closely matched cotton thread. Can only tell at 15-20cm away.

Photo of the jacket repair on the google reviews, can take a pic of the knit mending on request.

Hi all, will trawl back through the thread... but how are the top few options of business shirts these days? I now work (in Melbourne) at a firm where all males wear an annoyingly conservative attire (navy/dark great suits, either white or blue shirts), is what it is

To that end haven't had time to get acquainted with the options at hand these days. Have people used ProperCloth from Australia? Would have been convenient to have gone while I was in NYC, but my weight fluctuated with Covid-19 outbreak and a newborn...

Now firmly in Melbourne also, i'll want to add a few more suits, as well as an overcoat for winter. That's on me to research, but I welcome passionate views on the topic
