the dark tan in yearling was much darker, while the dark tan in the signature was lighter in colour but also seemed to have more depth. difficult to describe, but i hope that helps somewhat?

That helped. Since my Chestnut in yearling are a very dark brown, it seems the Dark Tan in yearling would be too close to that shade of brown. I hope the Signature boots don't have a different shade of Dark Tan versus Dark Tan in veal calf for any made-to-order boots.

I wonder if anyone here has a pair of signatures and normal french veal calfs to compare? are the leathers/colours the same?

As leather is a natural product, virtually every batch will have a slightly different colour - it is in the way the dyes take to the material.
I have seen the chestnut in Yearling vary from a very 'flat' brown to quite a deep, almost red-brown.
A company with the exacting standards of RMW has a very consistent process, but over time, differences will be noticeable.
As a general rule, (darkest to lightest) chestnut, dark tan, tan.

I have the Craftsman in Comfort and Dynamic Flex. Both pairs are size 8G. The Dynamic Flex feels slightly more fitted. After wearing them for a month, I feel as though I could have gotten a 7.5G =S

After wearing them, all my other shoes feel so crap!

I’ve just bought a pair of Comfort Craftsman in Chestnut. They’re great of course, except they are quite red in natural light, which I didn’t expect. As you’ll see in the 2 pictures below they are much redder than my chocolate brown Tod’s. I’ve also attached 2 pics from RMW’s online catalogue, but it seems to further confuse the issue (Chestnut Craftsman looks different, Rum & Dark Tan both look reddish which is different from the other online pics I’ve seen).

I’d like to get a pair that are close to chocolate brown, what would you recommend;

1) trying another pair of Chestnut if these are an anomaly (but I’ve now seen some other pics on line that seem pretty red)

2) trying Rum 95, Dark Tan 13, or Mid Brown 24

Any input and photos would be greatly appreciated - thx

In my search for the perfect color, I’ve scoured this fabulous resource. Here are some links to color example pics. . .

That is a seriously beautiful colour but it doesn't look like chestnut. Maybe there was a mistake? I know there will always be variations but that looks pretty different to my chestnut boots. I'm sure they would darken down a bit with some chestnut polish.

My chestnut craftsmans are like that as well. Perhaps the variation can be explained by different leathers, whilst using the same 'chestnut' tanning method.

So, I've read way too much on here and am thoroughly confused since everyone has a different opinion on sizing. Instead of following sizing recs, I was wondering if someone matches my size and has had success since I don't have the option of trying on before ordering.

I am looking into ordering a pair of blaxlands in yearling. I wear a AE park avenue in US 10D and they fit snug out of box and like a glove once broken in. Any advice would be huge. Thanks!

Not sure I follow your logic - you are confused by the online sizing recommendations, so you ask for another online sizing recommendation. What makes you think the reply you get will be any more accurate than what has been posted before?

FWIW I would go with the first post in this thread which compares AE Park Ave sizing to RMW sizing.

"AE PA size 10D (medium) = RMW size 9F".

Good luck.

Thanks Prince. That was my plan, but my concern is that the first post says "Yearling leather is a bit thicker and less stretchy so you should consider going up a width". So with that mentality, I should go with the 9g, not 9f. But others have mixed reviews with that mentality. Then later others say to go a half size down instead of full, but don't mention what to do with width. I know I'm obsessing, but won't be able to return without taking a hit since I'm in the states and no one I know of offers them around Washington dc.

In other words, I was wondering if someone who has the exact same fit in AE park avenues (since they are the comparison fit of choice) in 10d had any last minute advice before I order.

I am a 9.5D on the Park Avenue. I wear an 8.5G for my yearling leather boot on the B543 last. Very comfortable. The 8.5F was too narrow for me.
