Maybe he's a member? :sarcasm:

I think if you remove him from his context, ie the red carpet, and stick your thumb over his face it looks alright. Not good enough for a multi-millionaire with a stylist though.

Beckham is definitely well dressed in comparison to the majority of celebrities, and certainly footballers, so can't take that away from him.

But as to "best dressed" accolades, this is largely and very heavily determined by how good looking someone is (or deemed attractive).
Any best dressed list now is basically a top 10 list of who is currently deemed handsome / beautiful at this moment in pop culture time.

For example, if Wayne Rooney (British footballer) dressed just as well, same clothes as David Beckham wears, but there was no such person as David Beckham making Wayne Rooney seem original stylistically, do you think Wayne Rooney would be winning so many 'best dressed' accolades?

The only exception to this rule I have ever seen to these lists is Prince Charles, who is stylish, but again, that is largely about the British people's enduring obsession with class and status which gives him the 'wow' factor. There are probably a million other retired colonels who dress just as well if not better.

I like Beckham. He's been smart enough to use British tailors and shoemakers for his own clothes instead of relying on fashion houses, whose wares he touts on ads. Sure, there's always something off or worth improving, but the man is still among the better celeb dressers out there. He's usually understated, in dark or serene colours and he does not flaunt.

I know it has been reported about him using Cleverley and perhaps the odd SR tailor, but he now almost exclusively wears RL for formal wear, usually RLBL. I would agree that he is largely very well put together, especially for a celebrity. Most celebrities trying to seem stylish nowadays seem to wear ill-fitting Tom Ford suits.
