Someone got shot in front of the Wendy's on Jamaica Ave. about an hour ago. I think it was right before I bid my friend goodnight... from the bus stop right in front of the very same Wendy's. The dude who got shot ran to Jamaica Hospital himself.

Ahhh Jamaica Avenue. Brings back memories staying on the Q31 after Hillside Ave, then walking down Jamaica Ave stopping at the Asian markets and haggling the price down for clothes and shes/sneakers (bought with my paper route money) and then catching the Q4 at the bus terminal.

I'm going to complain about the angle of the sun placing it directly in the middle of the streets I walk to work in the morning, which then burns holes into my eyes (forgot my sunglasses).

The random tree, awning, or scaffolding providing only brief respite from the sun's hellish rays.

Otherwise, the weather yesterday and today has been lovely.

Best Halloween parties this weekend?

Halloween, like just about all holidays in New York, is a clusterfuck. Stay away.

Agreed. Any NYE or Halloween parties at clubs or lounges are always incredibly oversold and then packed. Can't move, can't get a drink, can't do anything. Waste of $50 and your time.

I just go to big apartment parties or private parties my friends throw at a bar.

Yeah, we learned our lesson this past NYE. Paid $200+ for tickets to a party and it was exactly as described: oversold, overpacked, couldn't get drinks. It was atrocious. HUGE fire hazard too, as the party was on the rooftop of some hotel and it had two elevators. Literally took 5 minutes to get across the floor.

Last Halloween, we got cheap tickets for a bar crawl, but NYC has to be the least bar crawl-able city in the world. We ended up walking too much. Fortunately, over-crowding was never an issue at any of the bars, understandably so.

This year, we're thinking we'll just get cheap tix to a bar crawl again, but just stay at the bar we like the most.
