My Baxter Ranger Mocs after only 3 wears. Total mess of a shoe. I've had these for over a year and they won't be worn a 4th time, at least by me. Just waiting until meet someone I dislike enough to pass them on to.

You sound like a guy who wants to return socks to LL Bean after 20 years under their lifetime guarantee program. Try some Bick 4 to condition them.

Nah I'm not that kind of guy, they're just bad shoes mate. I know Bick 4 is pretty cheap but I'd still rather not waste it.

Maybe I had unrealistic expectations based on the quality of my other shoes. Rancourt just clearly not for me. Each to their own.

I’m a little baffled here. What’s the problem? That’s an unlined, unstructured chromexcel moc. That’s exactly how it’s going to look. What are you expecting? A shell penny loafer?

Unsurprisingly I wasn't expecting a shell penny loafer. I was expecting a Baxter Ranger Moc, which is what I got and I don't like it very much. You guys seem to take this quite personally. All opinions should be welcome in this forum whether positive or negative. Starting to feel like a Rancourt fan club.

I genuinely don't like how they look after 3 wears. This maybe normal for this style as you say, and I'm saying I don't like the way it looks. If Rancourts are your thing then that's great.

Feel free to post about your subjective dislikes if you want. Makes no sense to do so on an enthusiast thread though. And, more importantly, you did not say you just disliked the shoes. In fact, you posted as if there was something wrong with the shoes -- that they were "bad shoes" and a "mess." Do you go on all the enthusiasts pages just to say you don't like the shoes, jackets, shirts? That's trolling in my book and it's not personal in any way.

That would be trolling you're right, but no I don't do that. Strange question to ask when you haven't taken this personally. I do think they look like a mess - that's my view. Sorry you don't agree. I'm a regular poster on a few shoe forums and very rarely post negative comments. On the other hand I don't get offended when other people do.

I am really not offended by your opinion in any way -- just curious. Your post suggested that there was something wrong with the shoes and I was merely interested in finding out what was wrong with them. It turns out nothing was wrong -- you just do not like them for whatever reason. Well, there is no accounting for taste and you are entitled to your opinion certainly.

My opinion is that I like them. So, let's agree to disagree and move on.

Yeah, I should have been clearer and agree with your suggestion. I am just so disappointed with them that I wanted someone to rant to. Guess I picked the wrong crowd 🙂

sorry if this isn't the right place for this convo - but any updates on the state of Rancourt as a whole? I know they were doing the 'pre-order' at cost thing for the past couple of years, and now a couple of their core items are either out of stock or MTO...is this the new normal for them?

I'm particularly interested in the Beefroll Penny-moc (had a pair and wore them out) and the Gilman Camp-moc

The Beefroll Penny and Gilman are still both current within the line. The Gilman is actually the company's best selling model. But Rancourt has never really maintained much finished inventory for any of its styles. If you order a pair of Beefroll or Gilman my guess is that you will receive it within 6 to 8 weeks time.
