Does anyone know when the official C&J summer sale is due?
Judging from chris’ IG it looks to be immenent. It looks like someone vomited my wildest dreams into the London store.
I would suggest going down half a size with the Hallam. I wear size 9 in boots and more casual shoes (with thicker socks) and the Hallam I had in size 9 were far too big when wearing thin dress socks. They looked a bit ridiculous on my feet to be brutually honest. Like a boy trying to wear his older brothers shoes. If you can, I would suggest going to a store and trying on the shoes with your preferred dress sock. With a thin silk dress sock I could see myself fitting into a Hallam size 8. It’s a tricky shoe to get right. Get to the store to be on the safe side. Speaking from painful (and expensive) experience.Could anybody offer me some fitting advice. I'm looking at purchasing the Crockett & Jones Hallam, but not sure about what size to opt for. I wear a 9 UK in the 341 (Ashdown) and 325 (Coniston) lasts. Do you think a 9 in the 348 last would work, or would it be wise to go up half a size?
Any help is appreciated.

All I can do is share my experience. I now have no Hallams because of it. Anyway, after it all I’m not especially fussed. I’ve gone off the chisel toe. Give me a nice round toe like the Connaught. It’s a shame Crockett & Jones don’t make the black Connaught in the Hand Grade. Their Hand Grade are all too ‘sleek’.This is quite strange, all shoe makers use more roommy lasts for country shoes, allowing for thicker socks; and more fitted lasts for dress shoes, dress boots and loafers. This is trying to keep sizing consistent for shoes they sell.

I have no idea about the instep talk. The Consul are a G fitting. That might explain some things. In my view, the facing should be closed. I think I have seen some of your pictures with the facing looks wide open. I am a ‘snug’ 8.5, which isn’t what I generally like. With thin dress socks the 8.5 is just nice.Do you have a very low instep? Even your Church's Consul facing are completed closed. The problem is that you can size down on slimmer fitting lasts, this may be that you are a real size 8.5, not a 9.
