They don't attach the welt. Those machines stitch the out-sole to the welt.
Looks like he runs a nice operation.

Thanks @Nick V. ! Always great to get your input. I didn't write anything down and largely relying on my obviously faulty memory.

It was a dying trade and now growing again. If I was better with my hands, I'd definitely make the jump.
I’ve made a good living and thoroughly enjoy meticulous hand work. If I thought I could make anywhere near the amount of income I currently enjoy, I’d probably be repairing your shoes! Maybe one day...

My dream is to get an apprenticeship near my retirement years.

Then fix shoes for fun at the retirement home.

Thank you for posting this! I wish we had somebody like him in Toronto. Any idea if we can mail him shoes for recrafting?

Yes for sure! I have in the past. Dan Frappier in Sudbury (Heels N Soles) has also done wonderful work for me. He has accepts mail in work.

I have used Bay Bloor Shoe Repair in Toronto. They are good, but I prefer QC and Dan in Sudbury.

Post pics for us!!!

Wedges galore. I picked up some Allen Edmonds boots during a sale and are being used as my WFH collection. I've found that wedges are the most comfortable for a standing desk.

So Patrick Nijdam converted 2 pairs of Hamiltons and 1 pair of Stirling to wedges. And a pair of sandals needed an overhaul.
