Thinking about exchanging it for the 256, but I'd like to see some pictures of the 256 in use to see what kind of functionality it will have. Any help is appreciated.

+1.,... I have a 15'' laptop and will need to carry some other basics like a waterbottle, maybe 1 textbook, just want to know if it'll all fit. the 257 looks too big but I'm worried to 256 is too small... Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

This is a fantastic bag. If you don't mind, could you tell us where you got it?

I actually superglued (gasp!) one of the internal slot pockets shut since it got in the way of loading books, and I never used it.

Sorry for the color, but there is room for another 2" book, plus the outside pockets for thinner books.

Could you repost this (I suppose) inside shot? I'd be really interested in it.
Also, if anyone else has got or is willing to take inside shots of the Filson 256, that would be great.

Don't have a picture of me holding it unfortunately. Was my father's. Hopefully Sir Barims won't mind the shameless image thiefery.

The Filson is actually on my list of the top 5 purchases ever (along with an electric toothbrush, car window tint, etc) because it's kept me at school studying more since I can bring all the comforts of home with me

Enjoy!

Unless you are a true minimalist the 257 is a much better choice over the 256. A good way to demonstrate this is to take all the stuff you normally carry, add the stuff you carry occasionally and then add the stuff you would like to carry to make your day more comfortable or tolerable. You'll be surprised how much stuff that really is. Use this as a general guide when choosing between the 256, 257 or 258.
