It's hilarious after the last few years of pushing their female characters so hard in comics that Marvel is going to fail to beat DC to the punch. WW's looking to hit theaters before any female lead Marvel property does. I never understood why Marvel didn't just greenlight a Blackwidow film.

I figure after seeing how much Lucy made (not only a female led, sci-fi, new property/franchise but also an r-rated film) made in the box office ($460m on a $40m budget) that Disney would green light a BW movie right away.

In all fairness, WW is the biggest name female superhero. She's by far the most widely known and likely marketable. Still Black Widow seems like an easy green light. Make it a spy thriller and have her go undercover. You wouldn't need the budget of a film like Iron Man or Thor to make that concept work.

Plus it's ScarJo, her name alone could sell that film (like in Lucy), she is way bigger than Gal Gadot (many still hate this casting).

BWs popularity is in an all time high right now after being integral part all these Marvel films.

I really wouldn't be surprised if she was more popular than WW today.

Yeah, I question the wisdom of this choice as well.

Who knows, maybe Johansson and the studio couldn't come to terms on the money. Marvel is notoriously tightfisted with salaries, after all.

She already getting paid $20m per film from Marvel these days, second only to RDJ. Anymore just looks greedy.

Evans ($7M) and Hemsworth ($5.5m) got paid for AoU doesn't even come close to her paycheck.

Once the others demands pau closer to Scarlet, that's when Disneys gon' start killing them off one by one.

My daughter loves Superman too. She enjoys watching the CBS Supergirl show as well.

Wonder Woman is very much a classic character and hero archetype. She's been around since 1941 and while she's been "updated" and "modernized" on and off over the years, she's fundamentally still WW. She's up there with Batman and Superman. I have no doubt that Black Widow is enjoying a huge surge of popularity due to the Marvel films, but disagree this will have a lasting impact on her character and will lead to her being viewed in the same regard WW is.

I dozed off a couple of times when I watched it. A few funny lines tossed in here and there, just to remind us that the corporate paint-by-numbers model of superhero movies can't completely kill Joss Whedon's spirit. Otherwise, I thought it was pretty consistently unengaging.
