No rear pockets on bespoke pants: thoughts?

I believe pockets can be added later should they be left out initially. In that case, leave them out if in doubt. It is a cleaner look, especially when trousers are worn without belt or with braces. I never use my suit back pockets. Makes me wonder why I have them to mess around with in the first place.

You don't need pockets. Also consider leaving off the belts loops?

Considering, but I like wearing a belt.

No back pockets or belt loops for me on trousers for my bespoke suits. I would put both on bespoke odd trousers, though.

Yes, it is bad for your back.

I use my pack pockets but only if my front ones are full or I need to put something large in my pocket while I'm standing.

No back pockets looks quite feminine. You at least need some non-functional slits in back.

I keep picturing emaciated girls wearing zipper bottom jeans with no back pockets and I just spittled.

Anybody have a pair of slim-fitting, light colored, pocketless trousers with a nice high Hollywood waist? I'd love to see those hiked up with braces . . . well not really. ;-)

Considering the frequency with which you play (front) pocket pool, I guess the back pocket is the only choice.

I once had 3 pairs made without pockets, but after a while, I found them kinda weird. I sitll wear them but it sometimes make me self concious of my butt - even more than usual because I rarely wear my jackets in the hot summer of HK. Would have gone back and gotten them with both pockets if I had the chance.

I'm with a few of the other posters:

If it's for a suit - no back pockets.

Odd trousers - back pockets.

Also, I love sidetabs.

In the end, it's bespoke and you're the one that needs to be happy. You could always get a second pair of trousers for your suit and go wild with them - no back pockets, side tabs, or perhaps tunnel loops if you truly love your belts, etc.

Whatever your choice, wear it in happiness.

That sounds nice, M.

Oh, I get back pockets, except on dinner suit trousers.

Can I convince you to try skipping the belt loops in favor of side tabs? This suit is a good place to give them a try.

I'm with Will on this one, if you're not using them today, leave them off. I think it's more appropriate especially since it's for a suit. The reason being as you already pointed out, they're unnecessary unless you got the bad habit of putting stuff there.

Regarding the side tabs, I like having a variety. My last three pairs of odds were made with, my next will be without. For suits I tend to prefer side tabs though.

I would imagine that trousers with no pockets would wear more quickly in the seat. I would further imagine that having them lined at the back instead would feel weird. Hence, I support pockets, even if not to be used...(make them with no buttons if you must?)
