there was so much hype, excitement, power, and raw athleticism then. When I was a kid I used to think about the competition up until All Star weekend, and then I'd think about how it went down until the playoffs. That was the highlight of my NBA season from age 7-12. It made me happy, and looking back, I had a hell of a lot of reason to be happy because that was the ******* golden age of dunks.

I love how douchebag Floyd Mayweather said it's only b/c he's Asian that he's receiving this attention... if he were black nobody would notice. No dipshit... it's because NO ONE in NBA history has ever done what he just did in his first 5 (now 6) starts!!

I think the JRich contest was still pretty good, not much props or gimmicks. Still a showcase of dunking abilities and creativity. That Carter dunk comp is one of my favorites ever, his whole dunk set was just perfect and he did it all flawlessly. That elbow stuff dunk was probably the least exciting of all 5 of his dunks.

See, I thought the elbow was the most exciting of the dunks. I used to be pretty athletic back in the day, so I judged dunks by level of relative impossibility. I could put the ball between my legs. I could windmill and 360 (although not in the same dunk like Vince did), but I couldn't even envision that elbow in the rim thing. There was simply no precedent for it.

I just don't see the elbow stuff as very creative I guess, it's more athletic than anything. I've seen several street ballers do it years before Vince did so that may have taken it out some of the excitement for me. Plus if you see that live, it isn't very explosive or exciting because you had no idea what the hell did until you saw the replay. It's not like his other dunks where you go " did he just do that?" right after he slams the ball through the hoop.

I think the athleticism of it is what was so impressive. I'd never seen it before and it stood out for me as by far the most amazing dunk of the bunch.

there's just so many things to say about that J.R. Smith & Family situation in China... so f'd up. This is a dangerous can of worms that I'm tempted to, but will not, open. :hide:

Linsanity not looking good at the moment. :uhoh:
