Thanks, nice getup you have. Yeah, the guy told me Frigidaire makes for Electro and some Kenmore. I have a Kenmore Elite side by side that I love and I have never had any issues with Kenomore. Actually, I guess I should look at a Kenmore DW! Ok, now lets hear everyone hate in Sears! Keep in mind that I am a small timer.

Ed,
There is alot of value to be extracted from Kenmore, alot of the products that Kitchen Aid sells at 50% more cost is the exact same thing.
No hate there...

I fondly remember the DW we had in our restaurant. Dishes were done in <5 minutes. It was great. How long do the Bosch DWs take to complete a cycle?

Yes, there is a soffit above the hood -- we needed something to hide the 12" outlet pipe from the hood itself. And since we wanted the glasswares cabinet above the bar to hang with airspace above and below, the soffits were doubly necessary to continue the line. If you go with to the ceiling cabinets, you may just have to have the hood exhaust inside the cabinet -- rendering its space useless, of course, but maintaining design continuity. ~ H

It takes about 1.5 hours. That is on its powersave cycle. We dont use the fast wash or the heavy wash. It is insanely quiet. You can see how open our floor plan is, so we needed something quiet. I wish I had put 2 in, not sure where we would have done that, but we could use it.

I've been very happy with it. It's an SHE66C or something--no buttons on the front for my kids to press. I ran the outlet properly and have had no smell issues. It does a great job cleaning, it's plenty quiet and the auto setting actually seems to work.

It does take close to two hours, however, which is true of, at least, most European residential DWs. Of course, on the Continent they pipe in cold water, while my Bosch takes hot water.

Actually reading all these high-end kitchen descriptions kind of reminds me of Tom Sawyer getting his friends to pay him to whitewash his fence ...

Seriously though, it is good to have a hobby -- I'm just too lazy to choose something quite so labour-intensive.

We had a designer, our space was strange and didnt have time to fuss with it.

She was very helpful and the cost was very low. She illuminated us on the new triangle philosophies. I have to say, it works very well.
Yesterday my wife made cookies and I made dinner at the same time, never once did our paths cross while working.

Meeting with builder today. Not sure what might get resolved, but kitchen is one of three major conceptual issues to be dealt with today. Soon as I get a to scale, finalized kicthen design, I will post the layout.

KitchenPro used to make a 36 piece starter kit...but their site appears to be down. Any other places I can assemble a starter kit from restaurant wholesalers / professional-grade kitchenware?

Wife is down on the Bosch ovens now. Can't seem to get ceramic racks. This is a big deal to her, as only ceramic racks can be left in for the self-cleaning function.

Piobaire - I'm impressed (and also now a bit confused) by the level of due diligence and work you're putting into selecting a few kitchen appliances. If you put that much effort in all th eother aspects of that house, how do you even find time to work or brush your teeth?

LOL. Yeah, I guess we're getting anal retentive about it.

This is a big deal for us. It's the house we plan to spend the next 20+ years in. We're trying to really make this special (for us) and keep within our budget. Since it's a custom build, a lot of this is all on us. My wife is even worse and spent at least 10 hours drawing our house into one of her engineering programs. She even has the turning radi for our garages and parking area figured out.

I've been cruising websites for fountains in another tab all week.

I can't wait to break ground (April or May 2010) and start posting pics. Heck, let me post that floor plan again
