Levis 501XX big E....thrifted a pair, can someone tell me about them?

Ok, searching around, these are repo of 1947. How does one know if these are LVC?
They are fairly slim fitting, especially for their listed size. I feel like a complete idiot on this one. Love them. Thanks for all the help on this one!
I love the patch. Ill take some pics and post them. Ill hop on these for a project. I have a few others that I have been wearing to redo my yard, hauling around about 10 tons of flagstone and building some new walkways, really beat the hell out of some other pairs, which I need to take some pics of and post. So, time for a new pair, and I think these might be the pair.
Are these a decent denim, meaning, is the denim made by a particularly nice mill?

The "R" on the back button is what has been stamped on recent LVC's. Older LVC's will have 555, which means they were made in the Velencia St factory in San Fransico. I believe that more recent LVC's are being made at the Taylor Togs factory in North Carolina (same factory that makes Rag & Bone denim) The actual denimn should come from Cone Mills which is where the original Levis redline denim came from.
