I own a normal v-neck cashmere sweater from Johnstons of Elgin, and I want to buy one of their thicker cable sweaters. Am I supposed to buy a smaller size in the cable sweaters? Someone told me that these are four inches smaller in circumference. Or are the cable sweaters supposed to fit more snugly as they're thicker and meant for outdoor use?

Appreciate feedback from someone who might own both.

How am I supposed to comment on the fit without seeing you wearing the sweater?

Exactly, you aren't, but anyone who owns clothes from Johnstons would be in the position to make a general comment on fit.
