I've seen John Varvatos casual wear all over the place these days.
I know he's been around for many years, but have you all been
a fan of his line of clothing?

I get mixed reviews on this and was curious of what you thought.

I actually have a zip up hoodie from him, plus a corduroy blazer
and also leather jacket.

Some of his stuff is good but seems wildly overpriced. Corduroy blazer
orginally priced at 700 dollars??? I got it at 89 dollars super clearance.

Was wondering if you like his line, if it's too commercial, bad quality..etc etc.

I really like his stuff - quality might be a little lower than it should at his pricepoint but items can regularly be found on sale...

i saw a pair of JV bluchers at the rack for $230 today. nice tan, antiqued patina, supple leather, goodyear welted, made in italy, not bad. only thing holding me back was the color, i've been looking for more of a dark brown. i may go back tomorrow and pick it up and darken them myself through a darker shoe cream.

I don't like the line as thoroughly as I did in his earlier years, but he still does a few pieces each season that I would enjoy wearing.

I once had a Varvatos horsehide peacoat that was pretty much the coolest coat ever. I've been kicking myself for selling that one for years.

I have to say I've gone a little Varvatos crazy this year: boots, shoes, shirts, sweaters, scarves. Every once in a while I feel like a designer's clothes fit me just the way I want. And this year, for me, it's been John Varvatos, Paul Smith and Filippa K.

I can agree with the previous poster regarding the quality vs price point. My ETRO shirts easily beat the JV shirts in terms of quality, but I like John Varvatos for the details. I own several button downs, and each has a subtle detail which I like: whipstitching on the placket, exposed seams, unique cuffs.

John Varvatos footwear is another example of this line fitting me perfectly. I have recently bought three pairs of boots, and each pair fits me like a glove. I usually have a problem with width, but JVs are probably D or E width which works for me. And the quality of the boots is very good. Not Alden quality, but better than most designer boots.

Like most lines, I don't like everything I see, but some of his casual shirts and outerwear plus his shoes are things I'd buy.

I have one of his white casual shirts that has double pockets with buttons that fits me perfect. I wouldn't have purchased it at its original price of $195.00, but at the sale price of $49.95, it's a nice shirt to wear with jeans.

Lot of his clothes and shoes do look good tho I've never bought anything....the one thing I cant stand are the poloshirts with the "V fingered hand" logo. has to be the worst branding ever.

A related question: are the collabs (both Chucks and Purcells) any more comfortable than regular Converse fares? Thanks.

Yeah, but as far as Chucks and Jack Purcells go I only like them in white. The Varvatos Chucks can sometimes look okay but I still wouldn't buy them. If you like them though, I saw them in the discount stores for as low as $20 when I used to go fairly often.
