maybe that specific suit hasn't gone on sale, but a few weeks ago they had 20% off all orders over $175, and they've had 30% off a few times in the past. if you could hold off, I would.

From the J.Crew Aficionada page...
J.Crew is offering 20% off your entire order of $175+ with promo code SECRET. This offer expires 6/17/09.

I just saved over $100 on my order.

is it worth it? or am i better off looking for something else?

I like the look of this one:http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/Mens...6563/16563.jsp

But would only consider on deep discount. That price is crazy for what it is.

I picked up the lightwt l/s camp shirt in beige on Saturday. Picked beige b/c the other choice was navy and I have a lot of blue shirts. But I'm not quite sure what color pants to match up. Denim's obvious, but I'm not sure how my chinos work. Best I can figure is probably white, and maybe the faded black in my officer surplus chinos. Thoughts?

...if you have any chinos or shorts in olive with a pair of low all white sneakers would look killer. Now that I think of it, they do have the shirt at my J.Crew. hmmmmmm...

Nice suggestion. I do have a couple olive chinos, including the J. Crew officer's. And some white JPs.

I'm wearing it today with my faded black officers and wolf suede DBs, and it looks OK but maybe a tad "uniform-y." The JPs woulda opened up the look a bit.

This is how I feel when I combine khaki shirt with green pants (very common Sheriff colors in California.)

I wasn't dissin' your suggestion, it's actually a good combo. However, all the county cops within a 200 mile radius wear this color scheme where I live, so I don't want to get capped in the head because some bank robber thinks I'm Billy Bob the Sheriff.

Probably the key to not looking like a ranger is to avoid black leather with it (eg, belt, boots) and opt for something like a white sneaker to make it more casual.

I also thought about doing the olive pants/beige shirt with the shirt untucked, collar open an extra button, and grey or navy t-shirt underneath. I'm not a big fan of visible t-shirts (even colored ones) under shirts, but in this case it might look good.
