Is bespoke worth it, judging by the examples posted on SF?

Reaction to this topic differs by these categories I think.

Good tailors, whether they alter or they make your clothes, are an essential but diminishing commodity. There is nothing intrinsic to the RTW process that protects you from a bad tailor.

Either I'm not following you or you're not following me. Probably the former, as I suspect you're leading the horse to water.

My concern isn't avoiding tailors -- I do that already, choosing not to patronize my few nearby options -- so much as a reaction to the great faith folks put in this abstract idea/romantic ideal.

That said, when I see someone tell n00bs asking the most basic questions that they ought to go bespoke, I cringe a bit. As in all things, buyer beware. But you have to know what to beware.

I've heard many rumors of these Savile Row-gone-wild disasters, but have yet to see any proof. In the name of the collective wisdom of this Forvm, you must tell me where they are, if they exist....

One thing to bear in mind and it has to be said is that we only see a tiny amount of the bespoke work that comes out of Savile Row posted on the internet. I have seen good work and some bad work from most of Savile Row tailors. I've also seen some stunning tailoring from Maurice Sedwell which is the best I've ever seen.
