How were fashion canes traditionally carried and used?

I was in the market for a new cane recently and one of my lady friends suggested getting a replica of the cane from the first Jurassic park movie. I got a cane shop to make it for me, with a real dead crane fly encased in a resin shell and fine wood. The cane helped break the ice with women in clubs, supermarkets, restaurants, anywhere.

What I'm not so sure of is how I'm supposed to carry it if I am to remain in character. I'm 26, I don't need it because of an injury.

Do I walk with it and plant it on the ground every step or two the way people who need it functionally do? Do I do a "pimp walk" like Snoop Dog? Do I carry it in front of me like Antonio Banderas did in "The Mask of Zorro" when he was Don Alejandro? How were fashion canes used traditionally?

As is true of all questions (including "what is the meaning of life?"), your answer is always "pimp walk". Always.
