You could use dark brown, black or grey shoes, but those loafers, although warmer than the rest of the outfit, just look good in my eyes.
Thanks. My initial plan was black bit loafers.

I somehow missed the shoes on my phone... I fully support your more adventuresome taste in patterns, but I think captoe oxfords (even in suede) are rather inelegant in this outfit, especially when I know how many fine loafers you have! If I had access to some golden era shoes to magic into this outfit I might choose brogued suede wingtip derbies with a crepe sole, or perhaps some NST black and white spectator derbies.

Enjoy that umbrella!

I agree not the best shoe for the outfit. These are my rain shoes though. It did rain that day, but I never got caught in it so I didn’t need the shoes or the umbrella.

I like that brolly too! I thought about getting a full stick one some day but looking back I can’t think of a single time when I’d have used it. These days I’m usually suited up for work and that means flying for which a full stick is not practical.

Mica, Mica, parva stella;
Miror quaenam sis tam bella.

Bella Court is guilty of not being a street.

Bella Court is only two street signs in the middle of the 1700 block of South Westgate Avenue in Sawtelle (West Los Angeles 90025).

Bella Court does not exist on Apple Maps or Google Maps.

The weather is just about perfect here in NYC today - mild temperatures and low humidity - and my husband and I are having friends over for a party this evening, in part to celebrate the visit of a friend from out of town, and also to celebrate the completion of my portrait (the artist is an invited guest this evening).

Our friend from out of town is making his first foray into evening wear, and, as it happens, another guest has just acquired his first tuxedo as well, so the dress code for the evening is "black tie optional". I recently bought today's waistcoat as well, so I am joining in the fun, giving it a test run with my "normal" tuxedo (a midnight blue one-button), in anticipation of a formal dinner next month.

Tuxedo - Paul Stuart/Phineas Cole
Shirt - Ede & Ravenscroft
Tie and stud set - Budd, London
Braces - Albert Thurston
Waistcoat - Favourbrook
Pocket square - Brooks Brothers
Shoes - Magnanni for Saks Fifth Ave.
