This is a great jacket, one of your best I think. I think to elevate it, darker shoes, maybe an oxblood/black loafer or dark brown suede would work? The shoes contrast against the formality and colour palette of the outfit as per your discussion with @Jmr928
Yes, I think you are both right otherwise it draws attention down too much. These brown shoes look a bit darker and redder in person than the image portray, but not enough it seems.

A lovely jacket indeed. See how a wide and good shaped lapel does improve the look.

Picking up on this. I normally have to grab pics and run out the door without playing around but I’ve got a sick kid home today so I had a minute to do an experiment. In the spoiler so I don’t hijack the thread completely.
These trews are on the closer to blue than navy side of things. Bear with me because the only truly light brown shoes I have are an old pair of boat shoes but you’ll get the idea I think.

I mentioned EGs dark oak was probably the lightest I felt ok with in a blue shade be it anything from fairly bright or dark navy. These are DOAK.

Light brown shoes are just super hard to make look “good” to me. There aren’t a lot of things that can hold the orange hue with them. But even in the broad spectrum of the browns, anything that warms up beyond the darker side of medium I think is a lot of contrast with blue shades. None of these photos are touched up but you can see how bright the full brogue looks with blue vs how dark it looks with ecru. Suede can help soften the contrast I think as seen with A’s fit yesterday as well as a lighter brown without the orange shades. It’s still hard to visualize without the full body picture but I try to avoid harsh breaks or anything too attention grabbing. I want peoples take to be “he looks nice” or “that’s a nice outfit” rather than “thats a nice pair of shoes” if that makes sense.

@Jmr928 As they say a picture is worth 1000 words. These do that easily. It really does make a lot contrast even with the same shoes and various color trousers. I will need to do a good bit of contrasting my own shoes/trousers now. Might be pretty hard to wear wear lighter shoes now seeing the differences. On someone else and not my feet below.
