Was forced to take pieces of a person at work today because of some visitors to the office. I chose to wear one of my more business appropriate suits, a Hickey Freeman I think I've worn once prior. Also I'm not sure why but the lighting gave my pants a sort of brown hue which my suit is not, it's as charcoal as it gets.

You didn't ask me, but IMO a black grenadine wouldn't have been better. Grenadine, even grossa, is too fine for such a casual jacket. A slouchy black silk knit is something I have done before though. Some people don't like black and white in anything casual but such opinions are below abhorring. Here I have paired a white OCBD with some black knit I got from somewhere ages ago. I see no problem at all with going the brown belt and loafers route with it either.

Speaking as someone whose sartorial preferences don't really intersect with CM's, I wouldn't call that awful. The belt is a notable affectation, but other than that it's a fairly well-executed trad look.
